I have been creating Databases using Microsoft Access since 1998. I’ve worked with a wide range of organisations ranging from sole traders to larger commercial and not for profit organisations.
Solutions to my Client’s data processing needs have included Housing Management systems, Counseling Service client tracking, College Student / Course system and many “number crunching” reporting tools for external Consultants as part of work for UK Government Departments. One database, designed for a recruitment agency in Kingston Upon Thames in 1999 is still in daily use in 2011!
Use of Access allows close interaction with other programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook as well as data exchange with a wide variety of other software using industry standard file transfer formats.
Bespoke database development needs to be properly planned from the outset otherwise “can we just add on…” features can mean rewriting existing work.
